Excellency, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and in line with youth
empowerment programme thrust under the Transformation Agenda of Mr.
President, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) in
conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invite
applications from suitably qualified young Nigerians to participate in
the Junior Professional Officers’ Programme (JPO-P)
The Junior Professional Officers’ Programme (JPO-P) was established in 1963 to provide young professionals pursuing a career in development with hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation. It is funded with donations from donor countries. Currently, there are 19 sponsors comprising 16 countries from Europe and 3 from Asia. The programme is administered by the JPO Service Center in Copenhagen. Denmark and initially for one year with possibility of extension for another one year, depending on satisfactory performance making a total of two years objective of the programme

Objective of the WHO Programme/Department:
The WHO Global Service Centre provides client-oriented administrative services to all staff and all WHO Offices worldwide in the respect of human resources, payroll, procurement, accounts payable and support of specific corporate IT applications. The aim of the Centre Support Office is to provide the swift and reliable delivery of a comprehensive array of services to all GSC and ITT-KL staff based in the Centre, in the following areas: budget and finance, administration, human resources, business operations.

- Work closely and directly with the Coordinator (Global Human Resources) to implement a training module for the HR Staff, to undertake efficiency initiatives and implement quality control framework.
Duties, Responsibilities and Output expectations
The JPO will initially join the HR Operations team, servicing a small client base, to acquire understanding of the HR Policies, Rules and Regulations, and Service Center processes and workflows. After the introduction period the main duties of the JPO will focus on , but not be limited to, the development and support of the implementation of the following:
- A Knowledge Base and Training Modules for GHR staff
- A review of the work flows and recommendations on process improvements and efficiency increase.
- A review of the communication templates with the objective to standardize and enhance the quality of communication to staff.
- Analysis of GHR Statistics and Volume projection. Recommendations on work distribution and resources distribution.
- Quality control framework to mitigate the GHR financial and reputational risks.
- Analysis of client service requests. Recommendations on areas of improvement and best practices
- The JPO will also support the Coordinator with ad hoc projects and requests emerging form the HR Division and the GSC management team
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Advanced university degree in human resources, business administration, or other relevant social science.
- Minimum: A minimum of two years of relevant work experience, some of which in an international context
- Desirable: Work experience in the public sector, international organization or NGO.
Skills required for the assignment:
- Excellent knowledge of English; knowledge of computer applications commonly used in an office environment.
- Age: Must not be more than 32 years on the date of application
- Information Technology skills, including word processing, database application (excel) presentation software (power point) and internet appreciation.
- An interest in adapting to varied physical environments; and a desire to work with people with different language, national and cultural backgrounds;
- Evidence of ability to think strategically, work independently and demonstrate a sense of self-assuredness.
- Respect for the UN principles of the United Nations Charter and the participating UN organisation’s mission statement.
